Glazing powder—also known as "brightening powder" or melamine glazing resin—is a powdered raw material produced by reacting formaldehyde with melamine to form a resin, which is subsequently dried and ball-milled. As it contains no pulp (cellulose filler), it is often referred to in the industry as "refined powder." While both glazing powder and melamine molding compounds are polymeric compounds, the former possesses a higher degree of purity and is specifically designed for the surface-glazing post-processing of melamine and urea-formaldehyde molded products. Common grades include LG-110, LG-220, and LG-250, each tailored for specific base materials and decorative processes.

2.2 Key Characteristics

Glazing powder appears as a white, odorless, and tasteless powder that is soluble in water. Composed entirely of pure resin—devoid of fillers like pulp—it forms a dense film. It is thermosetting in nature, curing simultaneously with the surface layer of the product under the heat of the mold. It is non-toxic and complies with requirements for materials intended for food contact.

2.3 Product Advantages

It significantly enhances the surface brightness and smoothness of products, resulting in more aesthetically pleasing tableware. It improves surface density and finish, while also enhancing the product's resistance to thermal/mechanical fatigue and increasing its fracture toughness. Furthermore, it boosts surface wear resistance (reducing the appearance of scratches) and improves stain resistance, ensuring a long-lasting, lustrous finish. It is also highly compatible with decorative techniques such as the application of decals or metallic accents. 2.4 Key Technical Parameters

Model & Application — LG-110: For glazing A1 and A3 materials; LG-220: For glazing A5 materials; LG-250: For decal application (patterned paper)

Applicable Standard — Refers to the GB/T 13454 series (manufacturer specifies compliance with GB13454-92)

Note: Data compiled from publicly available manufacturer information (e.g., Kaihua Ruida Plastics; retrieved October 2026).

2.5 Fields of Application

Surface glazing for melamine and urea-formaldehyde tableware; application of decorative decals (patterned paper); surface decoration processes such as gold-leaf application or hot stamping; and other post-processing applications requiring enhanced surface gloss and durability for imitation-porcelain (melamine-ware) products.

2.6 Precautions

Select the appropriate grade of glazing powder based on the base material of the product: use LG-110 for A1 and A3 materials, LG-220 for A5 materials, and LG-250 for decal application; do not mix or interchange different grades. Store the product in a sealed container in a cool, dry place; protect from moisture and clumping, as exposure to moisture reduces flowability and impairs uniform glazing. When applying, ensure the powder is spread thinly and evenly in an appropriate amount; an excessive layer can lead to surface accumulation and uneven gloss. Maintain a mold temperature of approximately 155°C, with molding time adjusted as required. Ensure the work area is well-ventilated, operators must wear dust masks, and keep the powder away from open flames.

Melamine-Formaldehyde Resin (Glazing Powder) – Product Overview

Melamine Glazing Powder—also known as melamine glazing resin or simply "glazing powder"—is chemically a melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin. It is produced through the polycondensation of melamine and formaldehyde and contains no pulp fillers.

It serves as a specialized surface-treatment additive within the amino-molding compound industry. Unlike the melamine molding compounds used for the bulk structure of an item, glazing powder is applied to the surface of the mold or the product during the hot-pressing process. Under high heat and pressure, it forms a dense, glossy protective layer.

Key Characteristics and Functions

High Gloss: Imparts a bright, porcelain-like luster to the product surface, providing a smooth, sleek feel.

Enhanced Surface Hardness: Significantly improves the wear and scratch resistance of tableware.

Sealing and Impermeability: Increases surface density, thereby improving the product's water resistance and durability against thermal cycling (resistance to cold and heat fatigue).

Safety and Eco-friendliness: Composed of pure resin; it is non-toxic, odorless, and meets safety standards for food-contact materials.

Common Grades and Applications

LG110 Series: Primarily used for glazing products made from urea-formaldehyde molding compounds.

LG220 Series: Primarily used for glazing Melamine tableware (A5-grade material) and bamboo-fiber tableware.

LG250 Series: Specifically designed for use with decal transfers, ensuring that patterns are firmly bonded to the tableware surface with a high-gloss finish.

Typical Applications: Melamine tableware (bowls, plates, dishes, etc.), surface finishing for mahjong tiles, buttons, and various small decorative items.
